‘I was experiencing fatigue, including cognitive fatigue, disturbed sleep and head and neck pain’

Before I came to Vitality360…

I contracted Covid-19 in the last week of March 2022.  I was off work due to acute symptoms for two weeks but then returned. I was still having some symptoms particularly with breathing, brain fog and fatigue but assumed I could just work through these. Unfortunately, the reality was that these symptoms became progressively worse. In August 2022, I saw a specialist via my health insurance and was diagnosed with Long Covid. I had a range of tests including pulmonary tests, blood tests and ECG which were all clear. Despite the diagnosis I tried to continue, still hoping that with time I would recover.  In February 2023 with my employer’s agreement, I elected to stop work to focus on my recovery. I was experiencing fatigue, including cognitive fatigue, disturbed sleep and head and neck pain.

How has the programme helped you to regain some vitality?

Bev is an excellent therapist, listening and analysing and then offering her vast experience in directing you towards the light.

  • The programme with Vitality360 has helped me to have a sense of recovery and supported me to return to work.

  • The programme has given me an overall awareness of my condition and how considering this, I need to settle into a more routine-based lifestyle for the immediate future.

  • The programme made me realise that there is hope and I just need to pace myself to return to full health, but that it should be done at my pace and not rushed.

  • I feel it has helped me to build a list of coping strategies

How did your Clinician(s) support you in this process?

Bev had made me aware that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I will make some kind of successful recovery, I just need to engage the concept of setting a routine and maintaining it until such time as I can return to as normal a life as possible.

Bev was a great listener and provided positive feedback and advice where necessary. Her many years of counselling came to the fore, and I cannot express enough how much she has helped me analyse my condition and look for solutions to get better.

What was most beneficial about the programme overall?

I would recommend this programme for anyone who not only wants to get better, but also understand the condition, and the pace they need to apply to their recovery.

I have learnt lots of coping strategies including taking ‘Chill Out Wednesdays’ and planning and preparing activities to avoid overexertion.

I am now back at work for 22 hours a week with a planned increase over time.
